Our Views 5768: A Year of Loyalty by: Moshe Feiglin Hopefully, in 5768, we will be more loyal. We will be loyal to our children: Less television and more of our own time. Less internet and more education. Less knives and more love. We will be loyal to our spouses. We will be loyal to our brother, Jonathan Pollard, who saved us and has paid for it with 22 years in a US prison. We will be loyal to our communities; we will take responsibility for our neighbors in need. We will be loyal to our nation. We will not assimilate; we will not blur our identity or forsake our children’s education. We will not cause our nation to despair; we will not steal its land or property, exploit its poor, distort its justice, expel its children and destroy their homes, or desert the residents of the border towns or mixed cities. In 5768 we will be loyal to our Land. We will not forsake the Temple Mount -- the heart of the nation -- to the Moslem wakf. We will not surrender more parts of our homeland to the enemy. We will not pollute the air, the land or the water. We will not destroy our natural resources. We will leave the box-like apartments of Israel’s Center and make the Negev, Galilee, Judea and Samaria flourish. We will be loyal to our state. We will not abandon it to leaders who are incapable of explaining to their children why they should live here at all. We will be loyal to our brothers in captivity. If Gilad Shalit is still captive, Gaza will lack more than just cigarettes. We will be loyal to our soldiers. We will not free terrorists who our soldiers risked their lives to apprehend. We will not give weapons to terrorists and then send our soldiers to fight them. We will not send our troops into Gaza so that they can retreat, re-enter, retreat, re-enter and retreat again. We will teach our enemies that it is not worthwhile to take captives. We will not send our soldiers to expel their brothers from their homes. In 5768 we will be loyal to ourselves. We will understand that everything begins and ends with us. We will realize that world pressure does not create the conflict between us, but rather that the conflict between us invites world pressure. In 5768 we will let the world wait a bit, and channel our energy inward. Not to solve our problems with the world, but to solve our problems with ourselves. When we finish, we will see that suddenly, our problems with the world have deflated. With G-d’s help, 5768 will be a good year; a year of loyalty.
Now it's time to hear you!
